CANBERRA — Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has extended Australia’s deepest sympathies to those impacted by the catastrophic flooding across Nepal and Tibet, China, confirming that Australian officials are urgently working to verify the safety of citizens traveling in the region.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Press Office, PM Albanese urged all Australians currently in the flood-affected areas to remain vigilant and follow the directions of local emergency services.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by the significant flooding in Nepal and Tibet, China,” Prime Minister Albanese said.

“We are aware of a number of Australians in the area and officials are urgently working to confirm their welfare. We are liaising with local authorities as well as tour operators.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Australian Government stands ready to provide full consular support to those impacted by the disaster.
