CANBERRA — The Albanese Labor Government has announced a $5 million assistance package for communities affected by the catastrophic floods along the Nepal–China border.

The package will provide urgent humanitarian relief, including food, emergency shelter and medical assistance. Australia will also deploy crisis and humanitarian response specialists to support relief efforts in flood-affected areas.

The government has announced additional consular assistance as authorities work urgently to confirm the safety and whereabouts of Australians reported missing following the disaster.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his sympathy for everyone affected by the floods.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of those affected as we urgently work to confirm the welfare of missing Australians,” Mr Albanese said.

The Prime Minister confirmed that Australian specialists would assist with the international response and that humanitarian support would be delivered to affected communities.
