MELBOURNE – Community leaders, media professionals, and mental health advocates gathered in Melbourne for a workshop on “Misinformation and Mental Health.”
The event focused on helping the Australian Nepalese community identify false information, verify news sources, and reduce the harmful effects of online misinformation.
Speakers said fake news and misleading social media content can increase stress, anxiety, and fear, particularly among migrant communities. Participants learned practical skills such as fact-checking information, identifying trusted news sources, and managing social media use.
Organisers said improving media literacy is essential for building a more informed, resilient, and mentally healthy community.
