KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has, for the first time, invited public applications for ambassadorial positions through an open and competitive process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for applications to fill ambassador vacancies in 17 countries, including India, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Applicants must be Nepali citizens aged 35 or above, hold at least a bachelor’s degree, have strong English skills, and meet strict integrity and eligibility requirements.
After screening, shortlisted candidates will be recommended to the Cabinet, undergo a Parliamentary Hearing, and, if approved, will be appointed as Nepal’s ambassadors. The move aims to increase transparency and merit-based appointments in Nepal’s diplomatic service.
