BALLARAT — Ballarat’s Nepalese community has a new team steering it forward, with Ballarat Nepali Samaj Inc. confirming its Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term this week.

Dolma Tamang has taken on the role of President, backed by Rita Sapkota as 1st Vice-President and Sushil Kumar Pandey as 2nd Vice-President. Yogendra Kumar Karna will serve as Secretary, with Anjana Adhikari managing the organisation’s finances as Treasurer.

The portfolio system sees Bishal Dhakal overseeing Member Services and Institutional Development, while Tara Sapkota takes charge of Language and Culture. Santosh Kandel will lead Sports, Health and Wellbeing initiatives, and Ashwin Ghale steps into the Media and Communication role.

Three positions Ethnic and Multicultural Liaison, Child, Youth and Aged Program, and Occupational and Humanitarian Support — remain open, and the Samaj is encouraging community members keen to get involved to put their hands up.

Speaking on behalf of the new committee, organisers said the team was committed to supporting Ballarat’s growing Nepalese population and welcomed input from residents.

“We are here to support our community,” a spokesperson said. “If you have any ideas, feedback, or need assistance, please feel free to reach out to any of our committee members.”

The Samaj has also renewed its call for volunteers to fill the remaining vacancies, describing it as an opportunity for community members to “make a difference” as the organisation looks to strengthen its programs over the coming term.
